Tom Petty, Stone Temple Pilots coming to St. Pete Times Forum
The St. Pete Times Forum, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning, is also getting a few other residents this summer and fall, namely Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the Stone Temple Pilots.
On Sept. 16, Tom Petty is playing a concert that was previously scheduled for May 9. Because the band’s album, Mojo, was delayed, the first 10 concerts were rescheduled. Mojo is the band’s first album since 2002’s The Last DJ. Petty’s third solo album, Highway Companion, was released in 2006.
Like Petty’s past tours, this one has an impressive list of special guests, including Joe Cocker, Drive-by Truckers, ZZ Top, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and My Morning Jacket. The special guest for the Sept. 16 concert in Tampa will be ZZ Top.
The Stone Temple Pilots are also coming to the St. Pete Times Forum as part of their 18-city summer tour with Cage the Elephant. In May, STP released a self-titled album, which is their first in nearly a decade since the group split up between 2002-08.
